We use this compound as a mass ref for doing high mass accurate mass measurements by EI. The only supplier I know of is Lancaster Synthesis and they have discontinued this product and will not tell me who their supplier was. Does anyone know of a source for this fluorinated polyether? Thanks Bill Cotham Univ of South Carolina ****************************************************************************** From: David Bostwick Date: Thu, 07 Dec 2000 13:59:05 -0500 Subject: Re: Source for Ultramark 1600F Calibration std Organization: Georgia Institute of Technology A Google search returned only one hit. Interchim in France lists several Ultramarks, as well as the perfluoro triazines that have also been used. No prices are listed, however, so you'll need to ask for a quotation. The UM1600F page is at . You can look a a few pages, but you'll be asked to register before you can look at any more. In a newsgroup thread a while ago, Fluka was mentioned as a supplier, but a catalog search returns no matches. Looks like they've now been bought out by Archimicia. My gut feeling is that if Lancaster doesn't offer Ultramark any more, then Archimica won't either. As far as I know they (PCR) were the only domestic manufacturer of Ultramark and interestingly enough, Perflurokerosene as well. I'm sure there's a few old Mag Sector guys out there who have a few bottles of this stuff laying around. Anybody that used to do FAB would almost surely have a bottle or two. Good luck, let me know if I can make a few calls and dig some up. There are several Ultramarks. The FAB (and ESI) calibrant is Ultramark 1621. Ultramark 1600F is a perfluoropolyether that can be used for electron ionization calibration at higher masses. Have you tried Fomblin as an alternative? I think that it is still available as a pump oil. Chip Cody -- "For purposes of ... New Jersey Right to Know Act.
