Dr. John L. Gohres sucessfully defended his Ph.D. Thesis
jointly advised by C. Eckert, C. Liotta and R. Hernandez.
He received his degree at Georgia Tech's Graduation Ceremony
this summer. Congratulations!

has now been released. Hernandez was a member of the Steering Committee.

Dr. Yanping Qin recently defended her Ph.D. Thesis, and will

Ashley Tucker placed third in the Poster Session
at the 2007
annual meeting of the Southeastern Theoretical Chemistry Association
for her work on the
"Diffusion of a Spherical Particle Through a Stationary Liquid Crystal."

Dr. Jeremy Moix and Dr. Charu Shukla received their degrees
during Georgia Tech's Ph.D. Graduation Ceremony.

Ashley Tucker successfully defended her outside proposal and
has now been advanced to candidacy.
- April 9, 2007: Jeremy Moix
successfully defended his Ph.D. Thesis, titled
"Molecular dynamics and stochastic simulations of
surface diffusion." Congratulations!!!
- April 3, 2007: Jay Foley,
our former undergraduate research student and recent Georgia Tech Graduate,
will be going to University of Chicago for graduate school in
theoretical and computational chemistry.
He also won a very prestigious McCormick Fellowship!
- January 18, 2007:
Jeremy Moix has been awarded a
Feinberg Fellowship by the Dean of the Faculty
of the
Feinberg Graduate School
to conduct his postdoctoral research with Prof. Eli Pollak at the Weizmann
Institute of Science upon his graduation.
This is a competitive program and funds a very limited number of applicants.
- December 11, 2006:
Charu Shukla successfully defended her Ph.D. Thesis, titled
"Computationally probing the cybotactic region in gas-expanded liquids",
and jointly advised by C. Eckert, C. Liotta and R. Hernandez.

- September 18, 2006:
The entire group moved to the new MS&E Building!
Prof. Hernandez's office is now in 2100L, and the group is located on
the Fourth floor just south of the main atrium.
- June 27, 2006:
Ashley Tucker has been selected as one of five
Molecular
Biophysics Trainees for the 2006-07 academic year.
- June 27, 2006:
Dr. Shi Zhong has accepted a position as a
Bioinformatics Scientist at the
MLSCN
at Emory between
the Chemistry and Pharmacology departments.

by the
Alexander von Humboldt Foundation for a stay in
