I was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. As part of a military family, I moved around the country quite a bit, but ended up graduating from Columbus High in Columbus, Georgia. I received an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point during my senior year of high school, but decided I was done relocating every few years for the military, and instead accepted the four-year Bell Honors Scholarship at GSU. While at GSU, the rest of my family moved back to Colorado, abandoning me in the peach state. After getting my BS in Chemistry, I realized that I just couldn't bear to leave Georgia yet, and came to Tech to get my PhD.
