GSF Seminars
Student Seminar Series
The student seminars are generally given on a Friday and give students
an opportunity to present research, practice a talk for a defense or
conference and obtain feedback on their work. Food and drink are provided
to draw a crowd. If you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity,
contact Becky Shaner at rshaner3@mail.gatech.edu.
Cherry Emerson Seminar Series
Fall 2007:
Royce Murray

UNC Chapel Hill
Melanie Sanford

University of Michigan
Nicholas Turro
October 30,2006
Columbia University
Spring 2008:
GSF encourages all graduate students to meet with some
or all Cherry Emerson speakers. These are excellent opportunities to
find out about speakers, their work, or just finding about research
life outside Georgia Tech. The sessions are usually very interesting
& informative, without requiring any significant knowledge about
the person's work (of course, research discussion is always welcome).
Sherry Lecture
Spring 2008:
TBA
The Sherry lecture is held annually in memory of Dr. Peter B. Sherry.
Dr. Sherry devoted himself as an educator and as a friend to the students
of Georgia Tech. This lecture provides students, both graduate and undergraduate,
with exposure to the most innovative science and provides an oppurtunity
for personal academic and research development. Students have the opportunity
to meet with Sherry lecturers in an informal setting.
